About Benjamin Ellicott
Never married.
U.S. Congressman. In 1789, he went with his brothers to Canada on a survey to determine the western boundary of New York State. He was also a surveyor and draftsman, for the Holland Land Company New York and one of the first judges of the court of common pleas for Genesee County, New York, in 1803. In 1817, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress, serving until 1819. An unsuccessful candidate for election, he lived in retirement until his death at age 62.
