Pierce in "Fiske and Fisk Family" states that Benjamin Fiske, son of John & Hannah Baldwin, was born in 1683, but was not baptized until March 1696 in Milford, Connecticut.[1]

The 1995 article "The Parentage of Benjamin Fiske of Rehoboth and Swansea, Mass., and Scituate, RI. points out the problems with this solution. ie. (1) the oddity of birth in 1683 and baptism in 1696; (2) Why was a boy of 17, son of Milford, Connecticut, residents in Rehoboth, Massachusetts; and (3) Abigail was about 23 at her marriage. Pierce contradicting himself, states that Benjamin was brother of Samuel, who was son of Joseph and Elizabeth, not a son of John. " the belief that Benjamin was instead the son of Joseph Fiske and Elizabeth (Bartram) (Hammond) Fiske. To support this the article points to: (1) J.O. Austins, suggestion that Benjamin, was probably son of this couple; (2) Land and probate records suggest a close relationship between Benjamin and members of the Fiske and Hammond families; (3) Similarities of given names used within the family of Joseph and Elizabeth; (4) There is a good chance that Abigail and Benjamin, knew each other in Swansea, and then later in Rehoboth; (4)[2]

He married July 24, 1701, in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts, Abigail Bowen[3] of Rehoboth, daughter of Obadiah and Abigail (Bullock) Bowen of Rehoboth.[1]

Benjamin and his brother Samuel Fiske, resided first in Rehoboth, but moved to Swanzey in 1711. Benjamin was justice of the peace in Scituate for years.[1]
