Benjamin Howard Jackson Sr. was born on December 30, 1886, in Providence, Rhode Island to parents William A. D. Jackson and Elizabeth J. A. Maguire. He worked as a real state manager in the Grosvenor building in Providence, R.I. Benjamin married Ruth Louise Doran, daughter of James C. and Annie F. Donovan Doran. They had six children. The family lived first on the East Side of Providence on Waterman St. in the 1930s and by 1940 had moved to Warwick on Samuel Gorton Ave. About 1926 Benjamin built a two-family home on 36–38 Laurel Avenue in Providence for rental income, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places as the Benjamin Jackson house. He passed away in 1961 at the age of 77 and is buried with his family in Saint Francis Cemetery.
