Benjamin Champion Kennard, son of Benjamin Kennard and Lydia Amorette Kneeland, was b. in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts on May 31, 1849. He married, on Oct. 20, 1875, in Meriden, New Haven Co., Connecticut, with JUSTINA C. BALDWIN, dau. of Ransom Baldwin and Sarah Twiss. She was b. 1843 in Meriden, New Haven Co., Connecticut. They resided in Meriden. Children born Meriden. He died Oct. 16, 1920 in Meriden; she died 1925 there; both buried Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden, New Haven Co., Connecticut.
Children were; Helen M. (1876-1968), and Benjamin Leighton (1878-1953).
Benjamin served as secretary and treasurer of the Edward Miller Co., he also served on their board of directors. He was a member of the Meriden board of apportionment and taxation, served in the Meriden Common Council, was an alderman and last clerk of the Prattsville school district. He was a member of the Home Club and assistant treasurer o the First Baptist Church of Meriden.
According to Helen Kennard MacKenzie notes Benj 's education was limited to English high school course and he left before graduation to take a position as clerk in a book, stationary and news store in Harvard Square kept by Benj H Richardson. About 1868 he became clerk for William B Williams Milk St Boston; wholesale import export. Moved to Meriden 1872.
