B.F. “FRANK” LARGE

Benjamin Franklin Large, 87, of Okay, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 6, 1998 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa.

Frank was born on August 26, 1911 in Spavinaw, Oklahoma to Bert and Dessie (Carico) Large. B.F., also known as Frank and Ben, had been retired for a number of years, he worked for Lock Joint Pipe Company. He was a welder and pipefitter and had worked over a large part of the Unites States. He was a foreman during part of his career. After retiring from welding and pipefitting, he worked for a short time for Roadway Express.

Frank's favorite hobby and pastime was working on cars. He loved horses and cows and in the past had raised them at his home in Okay. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Okay Christian Fellowship Church, where he was active in the maintenance of the church and assisted his wife, Opal, with any pastoral duties that he could do. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Reva Hughes; and six brothers, Claude, Raymond, Dwight, Odell, Pat and Bob.

He is survived by his wife, Opal (Mealer) Large, of the home; two sons, Richard G. Large and his wife Claudetta “Ducky” of Muskogee, and Virgil D. Large of the home; three sisters, Opal Hayes of Pryor, Ruby Hughes of Sacramento, California and Glenda “Dollie” DeWent of Tulsa; two grandsons, Michael Large of Port Aransas, Texas and Gregory Large of Henryetta; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Services were held at 2pm Thursday, December 10, 1998 at the Okay Christian Fellowship Church with Reverend's Richard and Opal Large officiating. Burial followed at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home of Wagoner.
