Benjamin E Lyon was born in 1775 in Mendham Morris Co. New Jersey. His parents were Capt. Abraham Lyon and Phoebe Lyon.

Benjamin married Mary Doty on June 23, 1804 in Hanover, Morris, New Jersey, USA. Together they had the following children:

• Peter Lyon;
• Nancy Lyon;
• Phebe Lyon;
• Jane Lyon;
• Teressa Lyon;
• Sarah D Lyon;
• Mary Lyon.

He died on December 21, 1844 in Knox County Ohio, United States and was buried after December 21, 1844 in Bryn Zion Cemetery, Mount Gilead, Morrow County, Ohio, USA.
