Benjamin Moodie, 'Younger of Melsetter', born at Doornhoek, dist. Burghersdorp, Cape Colony, 19 December 1836; married Dorothea Maria, daughter of Martinus Christoffel Heming (b. 25 Dec 1840), of Aliwal North, Cape Colony; had issue 6 children:
- James Moodie, born at Grootfontein, Cradock, Cape Colony, 10 Feb 1864; succeeded his grandfather as representative of the Moodies of Melsetter, 4 December 1894; married at Ladybrand, Johanna Christina (b. 21 October 1865, Patrysfontein), daughter of Jacobus Albertus van Zyl of Mount Blanc, Ladybrand; had issue;
- Donald Martin Moodie, born Couranderfontein, Smithfield, 15 January 1867; died unmarried at Modderpoort, Ladybrand, 3 September 1887;
- Benjamin Moodie, born at Barletta, dist. Ladybrand, 28 September 1871; died unmarried at Whitehills, Ladybrand, 20 April 1891;
- Thomas Moodie, born at Barletta, dist. Ladybrand, 19 May 1873; served with General Cronje and was one of the 16 general officers taken prisoner at Paardeberg and was sent to St Helena;
- Hester Magdalene Moodie, born at Zuurfontein, Smithfield, 10 December 1865; married at Bloemfontein, 2 September 1885 (or 1886), William Deale Esq (born Aliwal North, 9 July 1853), of Douglas Valley, near Bloemfontein; had issue 10 children;
Benjamin died at Egmont, dist. Rouxville, Orange River Colony, 21 July 1877.
