

Bella Burr Darby's DAR application indicated Cynthia's Salisbury Darby's father, was born in 1756, died in 1842. Benjamin Salisbury was her father, & his wife Lydia Baker was her mother
Lyman & Cynthia Darby had a daughter Harriet Darby Chollar, who had a son Franklin Chollar. Franklin had a daughter Bessie. Bessie Chollar King filled out a DAR application in 1944. She stated she was born August 2, 1877, & named Cynthia's father as Benjamin Salisbury & mother as Lydia Baker. She obtained DAR number 347247 in 1944. She states her cousin, Clara Cutting Gorton obtained DAR number 139183 on April 13, 1918 in Yonkers, New York.
Bessie Chollar King's application states: "Benjamin Salisbury was a Private in Capt Homen Cole's regiment, 1st Rhode Island Regiment. His name appears first on the muster roll July 1777, last on April 1778.
Benjamin Salisbury appears on the roster of American Revolutionary Soldiers "Salisbury, Benjamin, Harness Maker; return for rations allowed in Quartermaster General's department, dated Fishkill, Oct 14, 1781. Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of the Revolution, 17 Vols.

Book C, page 232, May 1, 1809, Benjamin Salisbury wills to Mason Salisbury (his son) of Homer $200.00, part of lot #67, in Homer. (25 acres). Signed by Benjamin & Lydia, his wife. I do not have a copy of this will, this information was given to me.
Benjamin lived in the town of Cortlandville, according to the pension rolls of Cortland Co, New York. He is buried in Kinney Cemetery per these records, Died Jan 23, 1842, age 85 years, 10 months, 25 days. His military record is: Salisbury, Benjamin, Harness maker; return for rations allowed in Quarter master General's department, dated Fishkill, Oct. 14, 1781 - from "Massachusetts Soldiers & Sailors", Page 744, Vol. XIII.
His wife Lydia is buried beside him. Died May 1, 1824, age 66 years, 4 months, 23 days.

HISTORY OF HOMER NY says: Meetings preliminary to building the First Baptist church of Homer (which stood at the junction of Adams street with the road to Homer) were held at the house of Judge John Keep ; the first one in August , 1806 , when John Keep , Asa Bennett and Benjamin Salisbury were chosen a committee to found a constitution.
Benjamin Salisbury was deacon of the Christian Church; he resigned in 1796 and removed
from the town.
