Benjamin Stanton

Benjamin Stanton shows up twice in our family tree because his great grandchildren, Omar Brown and Mary Thomas married.

• Our Benjamin (one of several in this timeframe) was the son of Benjamin Stanton (1756-1807) and second wife, Mary Moore (1762-1849). Benjamin Stanton (1756) was the son of Henry Stanton Jr.(1719-1777) and Hope Borden (1733-1787). Henry Stanton Jr. (1719) was the son of Henry Stanton (1688 of Rhode Island) and Mary Hull. The 1688 Henry Stanton also had a wife named Lydia Albertson and they also had a son named Benjamin Stanton (1746-1798). It was this Benjamin that married Abigail Macy (1753-1825) and produced a son, David Stanton (1774-1827) who married Lucy Latham Norman, the parents of the War Secretary, Edwin McMasters Stanton (1814-1869). There is kinship, but distant cousins at that. (1)
