Benjamin R. Ward

In May, 1837, Benjamin R. Ward petitioned the court in Warren Co., NC, for a division of the land left by his grandfather Benjamin Ward to his son John L. Ward and his wife during their lives and then to be equally divided between their lawful issue.

Records of John L. Ward (d.1836) show that Ben R. Ward was paid for overseeing John's farm 1 Jan. 1832 until 25 Dec. 1832 - $100. 1 Jan. 1833 until 25 Dec. 1833 - $100. 1 Jan. 1834 until 7 Nov. 1834 - $84. 1 Jan. 1836 until Dec 25 - $150. (this line marked through)
