About Benjamin Riley Williams, Jr.
Benjamin Riley Williams Alloway Twp. , NJ Benjamin Riley Williams, age 77 of Alloway Township, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Cooper University Hospital. Born in Salem, son of the late Benjamin R. Williams, Sr. and Chloe (Patton) Williams, Riley was a 1956 graduate of Woodstown High School. After serving in the US Air Force for four years, he drove a truck for Chemical Lehman in Bridgeport for over 13 years. In 1975, he took over operation of his family's bus company, which he and his family operate to this day. He was a member of the Aldine United Methodist Church, Salem Chamber of Commerce, Wistarburg Ruritan Club, National School Transportation Association, NJ School Bus Contractors Association, National Rifle Association, The Loyal Order of Moose, and a trustee for the Salem County Vocational Technical School Educational Foundation. He was recognized and awarded in 2013 by both the Salem County Chamber of Commerce and the Elmer Grange as Citizen of the Year. Riley's first love was driving. He especially enjoyed driving school buses and motorhomes. With his motorhome, he and his wife, Carol, made friends all across the country. Behind the wheel of a school bus, he was a mentor and touched the lives of many children. He always had a smile and enjoyed tormenting his close friends and family. While not out on the road, he loved to have all the family together for dinner & happy hours at home. He especially enjoyed hosting a special family Christmas party. Riley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (Jess) Williams; his son Benjamin R. "Joe" Williams (Lesley); his daughters, Chloe Williams (Joey Robbins) and Kristin Williams (Chris Riegel); his grandchildren, Amanda Lauren Williams and Brit Riley Williams; his brother, Claude Roy Williams; his nephews, Jared Fogg and Justin Fogg;and his niece, Ashley (Fogg) Dolbow. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Minnie Goslin Williams; his sister, Rachel Williams; and his grandson, Collin Harvey. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, June 22nd in the Aldine United Methodist Church, 780 Friesburg-Aldine Rd., Aldine (Alloway Township). Viewings will be held at church on Sunday evening from 4 to 7 PM and on Monday Morning from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place in the church cemetery following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aldine United Methodist Church, 780 Friesburg-Aldine Rd., Elmer, NJ 08318, or to Ranch Hope, PO Box 325, Alloway, NJ 08001.
