Arrived in the US in 1912 and was naturalized in 1919.
Louise Myerson, wife of Conrad Chalek, daughter-in-law of Oscar Chalek, told me this. She recalls several related families. The first was a male Chalek in the Midwest that had two daughters (who I believe was Sam Chalick of St. Louis). She also remembered the name of Wein or Winer (who I believe was Pinkas Winer of Chicago). She also said we were related to a family named Katz and one named Berkovitz. I believe she said that Berkovitz's had lived in North Dakota and moved to California and that the man was a butcher or was in business partnership with Oscar for a while.
