Bernard Ellering was born in 1857. He married Mary Lois and homestead on Section 21 & 22 of Grove Township in western Stearns County, Minn.
Every generation of the Ellering family has been well known and well respected by the people in the area. Today, the original Ellering farm is designated a Century Farm in Minnesota - being continously owned & operated by the Ellering family for more than 100 years.
Across the road, in Section 22, is a body of water named after the family: Ellering's Lake.
The couple had 8 children at the time of his death, they all are married with families and survive their father.
Four Sons: Edward "Eddie", Anthony "Tony", Alphonse "Al" and John "Jack" Ellering
Four Daughters: Mary (Joe) Schoenberg, Agnes (Lambert) Worms, Katie (Bernard) Athmann and Angie (Hubert) Bonemeyer
Ben Ellering died in 1945 at the age of 87 years. He is buried in St. Andrews Cemetery in Greenwald, MN.
