BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Bernard Gapper, junior, was born 26 September 1805, baptized in Chideock, Somerset, England, on 1 January 1806. Bernard was also a clothier in Winsham. He married Mary Dalley in Winsham on 20 October 1827. Mary had been born in Winsham on 7 Sept 1801, a daughter of Samuel Dally and Mary Trenchard.

They migrated to New Zealand, arriving at Nelson on the ship “Clifford” on May 11th., 1842. They occupied Section 163 Bridge St., Nelson, in 1845. Bernard junior died on 31 August 1869, at Axe Farm in Appleby, Nelson, N.Z. and was buried in the churchyard of St. Alban’s church there. Mary died at her residence in Appleby on Dec. 13th., 1892. They had issue, described in Bernard Gapper’s Descendants and the Gordon web-site.
