Bernard R. Stauffer, 88, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Homewood at Plum Creek surrounded by his loving family. Born November 28, 1933, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Reuel and Margaret (Mummert) Stauffer. He was the loving husband of the late Carolyn S. ‘Soap’ Stauffer with whom he shared fifty-four years of marriage until her passing on February 12, 2017. Bernard was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, where he sang in the choir and played the handbells. He was also a member of the Hanover Barbershop Chorus. Bernard was a 1952 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 14 of Hanover, PA, and the Hanover Elks BPOE #763. Bernard retired from SKF Industries, where he worked as technical draftsman for over twenty-five years; after retiring, he worked in the hardware department of Lowe’s for eighteen years. Bernard enjoyed golfing and working on puzzles and loved spending time with his family. Bernard is survived by his daughters, Julie K. Moul and husband Thomas, Carrie S. Martin and husband Sean all of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Davis, Eric B. Moul, Erin A. Martin and Emma L. Martin; and one great-grandchild, Aubrey. He was preceded in death by his brother, Malcolm Stauffer. A service to celebrate and remember Bernard will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, the Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM, Friday, September 16, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bernard’s name to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the charity of your choice. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com.
