PRIVATE BERYL G. DEDRICK HOME ON FURLOUGH
Private Beryl Gene Dedrick who was called home by the death of his grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Denham Dedrick, but arrived twenty-four hours too late for the funeral which was held Friday afternoon, due to an unavoidable delay in transportation, has a ten days furlough to spend with his mother, Mrs. Adeline Dedrick and other relatives and friends. It is his first furlough since he was inducted into service, the first week in July. Private Dedrick likes the army very much. He was sent to Camp Pickett, Virginia for his basic training and early in the fall was transferred to Camp Blanding, Florida, where he has been since except for short times away from there on maneuvers. Army life has done a great service for Private Dedrick, transforming him from a shy, quiet, retiring boy into a straight, tall, friendly young man with a fund of interesting stories and experiences which he is modestly willing to share with his friends. We enjoyed a nice visit with Private Dedrick and his aunt, Mrs. Wilson F. Dedrick, on Wednesday afternoon very much.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Mar 18 2021, 21:07:27 UTC
