About Bessie Casebeer
Bessie Rickard Casebeer was born September 20, 1888, and departed to that Great Beyond from whence no pilgrim returneth, January 15, 1929, making her age at death 40 years, 3 months and 25 days.
Death was due to flu, which relapsed into pneumonia. Apparently recovering from the flu, at any rate to the extent that she was able to get up and care for some of her children who were also sick, the exposure merely paved the way for pneumonia. The latter was only a few days in gaining a strong headway against her weakened condition and within a week's time she was taken away.
On April 4, 1906, she was married to T. R. Casebeer, of Dykes, who survives her. To this union six boys and three girls were born, namely: Vernie C., Clara (Mrs. Floyd Dykes), Macie, Edgar, Pearl, Gale, Ned, Leo, and Carl. All the children were at her bedside except Mrs. Dykes, who lives in Cary, Colorado. She is also survived by her aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rickard, of Dykes; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Crawford, of Houston, and Mrs. Fred Johnson, of Harris, Missouri; two brothers, Harry, at home, and Clifford, in Colorado. Another brother, Roy, died 22 years ago this month. Next to death itself the saddest thing that befell the sorrow stricken family was the fact that only three of its members, Vernie, Macie, and Pearl, were able to attend the funeral.
At an early age Mrs. Casebeer professed a faith in Christ and joined the Methodist church. Her faith was evidenced by her sunny disposition. She had a kind word for every one and malice for none and greeted the trials and troubles of each new day with a smile on her face and a song on her lips. To be able to leave the world better than she found it seemed to be her life's mission and achievement. To know her was to love her.
Funeral services were held at Dykes church Wednesday afternoon under the direction of Harold Lindholm and interment at Dykes cemetery.
We extend to the bereaved family our profound sympathy and condolences.
