Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke (/ˈbɛ.toʊ oʊ.rɔːrk/; born September 26, 1972) is an American businessman and politician who served Texas's 16th congressional district for three terms in the United States House of Representatives. O'Rourke was the 2018 Democratic nominee for the Texas Senate race, which he narrowly lost to Republican incumbent Ted Cruz.
