Betsy Hair was born in 1815 in Georgia, The Old Cherokee Nation. She married Ash Hopper/Ashhopper about 1833. The family of four is listed on the 1835 Cherokee census living on Peavine Creek, Cherokee Nation, now Georgia. [1] The family was Removed to Indian Territory and settled in the Flint District.
Ash Hopper/Ashhopper and Betsy Hair Hopper had 12 children; Peggy, Quantia, William, George, Joseph, Martin, Annie, Sally, Betsy, Jennie, Susie and Jesse. Additionally there is information which suggests they were the parents of another daughter born in the Old Cherokee Nation. [2] The family appears on the 1851 Drennan Roll in Flint District, Indian Territory. [3]
Betsy died July 29, 1877 in the Flint District, The Old Cherokee Nation, OK. She is buried in Clear Spring Cemetery, Adair County, OK. Her memorial can be viewed at findagrave.com memorial #41979111. [4]
