Betty Jean Haynes

Mrs. Betty Jean (Bagwell) Haynes, age 84 of Winnfield, crossed through the gates of heaven Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Mrs. Betty was proud to be a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her yard and beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed league bowling as a social activity.

Mrs. Betty and her husband, Wilson, the love of her life, were married in 1955 and lived in Shreveport for many years while raising their two daughters. She obtained her license in cosmetology in 1978 and they were finally able to move to Bienville Parish in 1979, fulfilling their longtime wish to return to their "roots". She opened her own beauty salon in Saline, where she loved working and socializing with her patrons. Mrs. Betty and Wilson were members of Carolina Baptist Church. After Wilson was called to his heavenly home in 1995, she relocated to Saline Lake, Winnfield, LA to be near her brother, Ray. She attended Calvin Baptist Church until she was no longer able. She spent her final years at Autumn Leaves Nursing Facility in Winnfield.

Those left to cherish her precious memory are her daughters, Lori Haynes, Eileen Hemphill and husband Greg; grandchildren, Gavin Hall, Caitlyn Hemphill, Hannah Hemphill; great grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Scarlett Shell, Lincoln Austin; brother, Melvin Bagwell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Haynes; parents, Clarence Wilbur and Eva Verda (Durbin) Bagwell; brothers, Buford Bagwell, Ray Bagwell; son in law, Terry L. Thompson.

Friends may view on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM in the chapel of Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 in the chapel at 3:00pm with Reverend Ken Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Community Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Larry Bagwell, Richard Bagwell, Jeff Bagwell, Heath Bagwell, Keith Duck, Gavin Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Bagwell, Greg Hemphill.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Autumn Leaves Nursing Facility, Guardian Hospice and Dr. Julio Iglesias for the warm, constant care of their mother and kindness always extended during their mother's illness.
