About Betty Sohn

An inquest was held by the city Coroner at 9 o'clook yesterday morning, at Acklands Hotel, Woollahra,touching the death of a child named Betty Sohn.
The following deposition where taken :
Siegfried Sohn deposed : He resides at Woollahra, and is a merchant; the deceased was his daughter, named BettySohn, aged twenty-one months.
Dr. Quaile deposed : He was called on Thursday morning to see the deceased, who wau suffering from extensive blistering over the right side of the trunk and arms; on calling next day he found the deceased was dead; the cause of death was shock, consequent on severe scalding.
Doris Sohn deposed : The deceased, Betty Sohn, was herdaughter; on Thursday afternoon last, about half-past 12 o'clock, she was cooking some meat for her dogs, when her little boy got in the way and capsized the table, on which she had placed a pot containing some boiling water; the boy, who is four years old, was trying to got on the table, and capsized it, and caused the boiling water to spill on the deceased before she could pick her up ; she took the deceased up, and undressed her;a number of her neighbours came in, and Dr. Qunaife called shortly after the occurrence; deceased died on Friday.
The jury found " that tho said Betty Sohn.at Woollabra on the 21st January, 1876, died from the effects of scalds accidentally received on the 20th of the same month."
