About Betty Gail Stephens, ♊
Betty Gail Stephens, born on June 4, 1952 in Winchester, passed away at her residence on Saturday, July 16, 2016. She was a member of Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church and was the church pianist for over 50 years. She was a teacher at Broadview Elementary School for over 35 years. She loved attending church and travelling with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her father, Robert L. Mitchell and father-in-law, Mannie Stephens. Survivors include her husband, Allen Stephens of Winchester; daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Stephen Guess of Toney, AL; grandson, Bryant Allen Guess of Toney, AL; mother, Cordie Duncan of Winchester; twin brother, Byron (Ann) Mitchell of Winchester; sisters, Ruth (Wayne) Wright of Winchester and Emily (Carl) Judge of Hazel Green, AL; and mother-in-law, Cora Lee Stephens of Elora. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 3 pm Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Selba Beaty officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Betty expressly requested that memorials be made to Broadview Elementary School Library in lieu of flowers.
