Billie Yon

KANNAPOLIS - Mrs. Billie Dellinger Yon, 85, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, following a period of declining health.

She was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Lincoln County, daughter of the late William Howkom and Annie Mae Caudle Dellinger.

She retired in 1984 from A&P Grocery Store in China Grove after 30 years of service. She was a charter member of Kannapolis West A Street Church of God. She loved to listen to gospel music, loved her neighbors, and all her family. She lived to tell others that God loved Them.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Yon on Dec. 24, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Yon Wright; a grandson, Timothy Scott Brown; and two sisters, Evelyn Gilley and Naomi Contamarinus.

She is survived by a son, Michael Yon of Kannapolis; two brothers, J.W. "Chris" Dellinger of Mooresville and Bill Dellinger of Kannapolis; half brothers, Sonny Dellinger of Lincolnton, and Joe Pete Dellinger; half sisters, Toni Roman and Donnie Rash both of Florida; grandchildren, Chip and Kay Wright of Charlotte and Danny and Tammy Wright of Kannapolis; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, in Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Sam Crisp. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

The family asks that any memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
