Brief overview:
Billy (43), a tomato farmer, of Lovedale farm, near Makhado outside Louis Trichardt, was shot dead on 19th November 2005. Meyer had his his six-month-old baby daughter, Christelle, on his lap while his partner, Alida Grobler (27), was preparing their daughter's bottle. He was shot dead when he put the baby on the floor. The armed attacker had entered through the back door, and demanded money. He fled with R200 and Grobler's cell phone. About 300 farmers have been searching with the police since Saturday night for the suspect.

- Shortly before midnight that night, another farmer, John Louis Steyn (73), was found dead in his house on the Sand River smallholdings between Makhado and Polokwane. He apparently had been hit on the head with a blunt object and dragged to his kitchen. Only a cellphone was missing
