Bird Middaugh

Birth: Feb. 3, 1897 Death: Dec. 24, 1955

Note: Bird was cabinet maker born deaf in Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas; died in Harris County, Texas; son of Joseph Allen Middaugh born Kentucky and Mousouri Texas Cruce born in Georgia. He is husband of Elizabeth Jeanette Smith.

He has an older brother named Charles Arthur Middaugh Buried in the Seadrift Cemetery; at Seadrift in Calhoun County Texas, Plot: A-043-1 and his mother is buried in the Hopewell Cemetery in Somervell County Texas. Whereabouts of his father's burial place is as yet unknown.

Joseph Allen Middaugh was previously married in Missouri to Rebecca Jane Richards. They had seven children born, but only two survived. The last child born was Laura Ethel Middaugh in 1884 in Cameron, Clinton County, Missouri, who apparently died during birth. There is no record of Rebecca after that date so it’s assumed she died during Laura’s birth. Rebecca's burial place is unknown. After that, Joseph left his two surviving daughters (one was my grandmother) with one of his brother's family in Henry County Missouri, and left. His whereabouts was unknown to his daughters, their children and grandchildren until the writer found him in a census record, married to Bird's mother. We still do not know where Joseph is buried
