Birdy

Birdy is an British singer and songwriter.

She is the daughter of the Hon. Sophie Patricia (Roper-Curzon) and Rupert Oliver Benjamin van den Bogaerde. Her great-uncle was actor Sir Dirk Bogarde.

Birdy’s paternal great-grandparents were Ulric van den Bogaerde and Margaret Niven. Ulric’s father, Aimé Emile van den Bogaerde, was Belgian (Flemish). Margaret was Scottish.

Birdy’s maternal grandparents are Captain John Christopher Ingram Roper-Curzon, the 20th Baron Teynham (the son of Captain Christopher John Henry Roper-Curzon, 19th Baron Teynham, and of Elspeth Grace Whitaker), and Elizabeth Scrymgeour-Wedderburn (the daughter of Lt. Col. David Scrymgeour-Wedderburn and Patricia Katherine Montagu Douglas Scott). Birdy is listed on the Peerage of England, and grew up on the family estate near Lymington.
