She came with her husband Christian Oleson (Grimsgaard) and 3 daughters Sidsel, Kari, Guri and 2 sons named Ole and Ole, the oldest Ole being called "Big Ole" and the younger "Little Ole". After arriving in America they had 2 more daughters Ingeborg and Randi. They went by the Oleson name but "Big Ole" and "Little Ole" went by Christianson.

The children all married in America and raised families.

• Sidsel married Knudt Houg and lived in Clayton co.
• Kari married Ole Odegaard, lived in Clayton Co for some time before moving to Blooming Prairie, MN.
• (Big) Ole married Gunhild O Wold and lived near St Olaf in Clayton co.
• Guri married Ernest Lundt.
• (Little) Ole married Christine Nelson; they lived in Gunder, Iowa and had no children.
• Ingeborg, the first American-born child married Nils Holm, they had 12 children, and
• Randi married Halvor Holm They also had 12 children and lived in the Gunder area.

Bergit died Nov 1894 in Clayton County, Iowa.
