(Though many family trees online and in print conflate Bleddyn de Acton with Bleddyn Brogyntyn, the son of Owain Brogyntyn, the two Bleddyns cannot be the same person: Bleddyn de Acton is well recorded as part of the group of Welsh and their descendants who followed Banastre into Lancashire; Bleddyn ap Owain Brogyntyn is well recorded as the son of Owain Brogyntyn, who gave him the demesne of Dinmael, in Powys.)

In a case in Lancashire, concerning the advowson of the church at Acton (May 18, 1235), Bleddyn de Acton appears as one of the plaintiffs, along with his brother Richard le Waleys and Bleddyn's son, Madoc de Acton. All three were descendants of one of the followers of Robert Banastre, who fled with his people into Lancashire after Owain Gwenydd destroyed his castle at Rhuddlan.

(See the Victoria County History for the County of Lancashire, volume 3; antiquarian's transcriptions and explanations of the document can be found in the Record Society for the Publication of Original Documents Relating to Lancashire and Cheshire, 1899, volume 30.
