https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/80385124/bledsoe-george-wright

His name was George Bledsoe Wright, but he went by Bledsoe. He was named for his mother's father, George Bledsoe of Orange Co., VA.

He was the son of William Wright Sr. and his wife Mary Bledsoe of Orange Co., VA.

According to his second wife who tried to claim a pension, Bledsoe served in Revolutionary War in Jeremiah Beasley's Co. He never received a land grant.

He married first c. 1782, Orange Co., VA to Della Raglen [b.c. 1762].

They had a son, John R. b. 1783, then Della died 1785-1787.

31 Oct 1859 - Fayette Co., KY - "John R. Wright, aged about 76 [so b. 1783], resident of Scott Co., KY, appeared and stated that his father Bledso Wright died Oct 1835 in Franklin Co., KY leaving a widow who is about 85 yrs old [so b. 1774], she was Bledso's "last wife", her maiden name was Sarah Beasley, they were married by Nathaniel Sanders, a Baptist preacher, in Orange Co., VA about 1791. Their marriage lasted until his death and in that time they had twelve children, seven of whom were still living. Mrs. Sarah Wright is currently still a widow, and John R. Wright is a son of of his father's first wife who died when he was about "to" [a clerk later read this as a numerical '4', which is possible, but doesn't match how the other numbers were all spelled out] years of age and he was about eight or nine years of age when his father married his last wife, who is the present Sarah Wright, who is now widowed in Franklin Co., KY. John R. Wright has knowledge of his father's service in the Revolution War, that he served under General George Washington in the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at York Town and that he had a discharge of his service in said war." Sarah Wright also signs an affidavit and adds that Bledso served during said war under Gen. George Washington at the Battle of York Town, fought by said General on the 19th of Oct 1781 at the surrender of Cornwallis, that during said battle Bledso was one of the General's soldiers who fought three days and nights [although subjected ??], that he served two tours in the said war, he served altogether about six or eight months, that he volunteered in Orange Co., VA and returned there after his honorable discharge. He died about 1835 at the age of about 84 yrs [so b. 1751]. Sarah has no proof of his service, but refers to record of his Orange county militia service on file in the pension office, [can read, but name "Stubblefield"]. She married Bledso on 4 Jan 1791, Orange Co., VA by Rev. Sanders, a Baptist preacher and her name before marriage was Sarah Beasley, that Bledso died Sept 1835 in Franklin Co., KY and she has not remarried. She is too old and disabled to appear personally. She signs with an 'X'.

Her claim was never allowed as she was unable to prove his service.

Children named were Critington Wright and son-in-law Elijah Lea. Also stepson John R. Wright, aged 76, whose mother died when he was about either two or four years old.

George Bledsoe Wright's children with Sarah Beazley [they had eleven altogether, only seven of whom were still living in 1859]:

2. Benjamin Wright, b. 1794, Orange Co., VA; m. 19 Sep 1814 in Fayette County, KY to Hannah McLemore [b.c. 1797; d. 1833-1850, probably Fayetteville, Lincoln Co., TN; daughter of Sterling McLemore and Rebecca __]; he d. 1833-1850, probably Fayetteville, Lincoln Co., TN.

This son was listed on the 1810, but not the 1820 Fayette Co., KY census with his parents.

One of Benjamin's descendants has taken a DNA test which indicates he is a descendant of Bledsoe's father William.

Benjamin and Hannah had moved to Lincoln CO., TN by 1820:

1820 census, Fayetteville, Lincoln Co., TN, p. 143 Benjamin Wright 3-0-0-0-1-0 1-0-0-0-1-0 no slaves One male 26-44; b. 1776-1794 - Benjamin One female 26-44; b. 1776-1794 - Hannah Three males under 10; b. 1810-1820 - James, William, & Joel One female under 10; b. 1810-1820 -

1830 census, Lincoln Co., TN Two Benjamin Wrights were listed as heads of household

1833 - Lincoln (now Moore) Co., TN - Benjamin and Hannah were both founding members of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. The names of Benjamin and Hannah Wright would continue to be mentioned in church records for many years, but it's difficult to be sure in later years if it's them or a child or grandchild who is referenced. The records include the names of Benjamin, Hannah, James, Eliza (the name of James' wife), William, Mary (the name of William's wife), Julia, and Rebecca Wright as members.

Benjamin Wright's children (there were probably others):

1853 - Sometime after their daughter Perlina was born in Tennessee in Apr 1853, James and Eliza left the state for Mississippi, then moved on to Grapevine, Tarrant Co., TX by May 1855 when their last child James was born there. James seems to have died either before James was born or soon after:
