Bobbie Rosenfeld

Fanny Rosenfeld was born in Katerynoslav, Russia, in February 1904.11 Reminiscing in 1957 Rosenfeld wrote that she came to Canada at age three weeks, but it is more likely that she was just over a year old given that her father, Max Rosenfeld, then age 28; her mother, Sarah, age 21; and her older brother Maurice, who was born in December 1902, emigrated in 1905.12 The family took up residence in Barrie, Ontario, where another paternal family member already lived.13 Max, Maurice, and Fanny were naturalized as Canadian citizens on 18 December 1920.14 A second daughter, Gertrude, was born in May 1906 and a third daughter, Mary, the following year in November 1907. The fourth and final child, Ethel, was born fifteen years after Fanny, in 1919.
