Bobby "Pops" Overton

Bobby "Pops" Overton, age 80, of Adrian, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family and Hospice of Lenawee, on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at his home. He was born February 18, 1936 in Hodges, Alabama, to Jim and Frances (Stanphill) Overton. On July 2, 1955, he married Mamie Lee Burleson and she survives. Bobby was employed with the Ford Motor Company in Rawsonville, Michigan for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. He loved old cars and tractors, collecting guns, going to turkey shoots and playing the "Board". He was a member of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, Mamie, he is also survived by his daughters, Cheryl Bates of Clinton and Lisa Overton of Adrian; sisters, Evelyn Mansell and Jimmie Pritchett both of Alabama; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan and Brooke Bates, Derek and Kelsey Fischer, and Maddie Overton; 5 great-grandchildren, Coltin, Cailynn, Jordan and Vance Bates, and Landyn Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion Molly. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tami Fischer. Funeral services for Bobby will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Fritz Kruse officiating. Interment will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
