Bridget was named in her grandfather's will on 2 April 1767 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will Richard Haze gave my grandson Richard Haze son of William my plantation whereon I now live, and for want of heirs to my granddau. Margaret Haze dau. of John. To my dau. Sarah Jacob n. fellow Sipeo, and to her youngest son n. boy Isaac. To my granddau. Bridget Edmunds n. fellow Zechariah when she is 21. To granddau. Abigail Edmunds when 21 n. woman Luse. To my granddau. Anne Edmunds when 21 n. child Babel. To granddau. Margaret Haze dau. of John when 21 n. boy James. To dau. Hannah Edmunds pewter dish and plates. Remainder of estate to be sold and div. into five eq. parts for John Haze's child, for William Haze's children, for the children of Sarah Jacob wife of Kendall, for Hannah Edmunds wife of David and her children, and for Richard Jacob son of Mary Jacob. She married Stringer Melholloms on 9 May 1781 at Northampton Co, VA. John Meholloms was security on the M.L.B. of Stringer Meholloms and Bridget Edmunds, daughter of David Edmunds who gave consent.

Bridget was named in her father's will on 16 September 1785 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will David Edmunds gave son Thomas £600. To dau. Peggy Edmunds n. fellow Jack, n. woman young Comfort and n. girl Fanny. To dau. Thamar Edmunds n. woman Rose and n. Elzy and young n. Eddy. William Wyatt and George Craik extrs. Children to receive their legacies when 21. To daus. Bridget, Ann and Abigal one shilling each. Witt: George Craik, William Wyatt.

Bridget was named in her sister's will on 27 March 1788 at Northampton Co, VA. In her will Abigail Edmunds gave to Abigail Belote and Isaac Smith for their supporting me as long as I shall live Negroes Lucy, Jinny, Littleton, Silby and Mary. To my brother Thomas Edmunds n. boy Anus. To my sister Bridget Holloms n. girl Sarah, but the first child that Sarah shall have I give to my sister Ann Edmunds. She married (Joseph?) Dalby circa 1789 at Northampton Co, VA.

Bridget Edmunds married Joseph Hanby on 19 January 1791 at Northampton Co, VA. Isaac Bull was security on the M.L.B. of Joseph Hanby and Bridget Dalby.

Bridget made a will on 3 May 1824 at Northampton Co, VA. In her will Bridget Hamby gave to grandson John Smith my Negro woman Sarah. I give to grandson William Hamby my Bible. I give to my grand daughter Sally Bell. I give to my daughter in law [stepdaughter] Polly Bell my warmin pan. I give to my sister Nancy Dowty. I give to Susi Hamby. The balance of my estate after paying my just debts, I leave to be equally divided between my granddaughters Susanna Ward, Ann Smith & Mary Brown. I do appoint Edmond Bell executor. Signed with her mark, Bridget Hamby. Witnesses: Anthony Bell and John Hamby. [All the grandchildren referred to in this document are probably step - she does not seem to have had any children of her own. This makes it much harder to identify them.]

She died before 14 June 1824 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that her will was proved.

Her estate was settled on 13 March 1832 at Northampton Co, VA. On August 9, 1824 Levin Matthews was appointed to administer the estate of Bridget Hamby. Bond $400. No order to appraise the estate. Audit and Settlement. Levin Matthews executor. Inv 38 pages 425-426. Heirs: James Ward, Ann Smith and Mary Brown. Recorded on March 13, 1832.
