Emigrated to the US in 1888 and married in 1892. She kept a millinary store in Catonsville, MD on Frederick Road, and kept a tavern at 708 N. Calhoun Street in Baltimore (near Harlem Square) after the death of her husband in 1914.

1900 census has her listed as "Bertha." and listed DOB FEB 1872 Also listed as "Bertha Carew" on Charles Wellington Thompson's marriage cert After husband's death 1920 census notes the saloon. Bridgit Thompson, head of household is now only 42.
