Church of St John the Baptist, Plumpton, Northamptonshire

Plumpton Northamptonshire (or Northants) is about three miles north-east of Culworth and of Sulgrave which themselves are north-east of Banbury.

Henry Sandys was the 6th son of Bishop Edwyn Sandys, born in 1572 when Edwyn was Bishop of London and therefore most likely at either of the Bishop's residences in London.

These were Fulham Place and Barnards Castle (near St Pauls Cathedral).

In about 1602, this Henry Sandys married Priscilla Chauncy a daughter of Sir Toby Chauncy of Edgcote Northants. Edgcote is a short distance west of Culworth and of Sulgrave. There was a battle there in 1469. Henry Sandys and Priscilla settled at Culworth and had two known sons there. Edwyn born c1604 and Chauncy born 1606.

Henry died sometime between 1609 when he witnessed Sir Toby's Will and 1621 when Chauncy went up to study at Cambridge.

Edwyn continued at Edgcote and through his influence his cousin Robert Sandys became Rector of Boddington (about five miles north-west of Culworth) in c1628.

Robert was born in London in 1601 and was the first son of Thomas Sandys who was the fifth son of Bishop Edwyn. Robert married Alice Washington who was a daughter of Lawrence Washington of Sulgrave.

I have no knowledge of Henry's daughter Bridget.
