About Brig. Gen. Robert Nelson Getty
USMA Class of 1878. Cullum No. 2750. He was the son of General George W. Getty and Elizabeth G. Stevenson Getty. On October 14, 1885, he married Cornelia Thomas Colegate at the Epiphany Church of Washington, D.C.

Brigadier General Robert Nelson Getty, United States Army, retired, died here today in Letterman General Hospital at the age of 86.
General Getty was graduated at West Point in 1878, and fought in the last of the Indian campaigns, and in the Spanish-American and World Wars. He was a son of General George W. (Gentle Bob) Getty of Civil War fame.
General Getty was born in Hamilton, New York, January 17, 1855. He served with Casey's Scouts against the Sioux Indians in 1890 and 1891 and with the Fifth Army Corps in Cuba in 1898, participating in the battles of El Caney and San Juan and in the siege of Santiago. He was in the Philippines from 1900 to 1903.
Surviving General Getty are four daughters and one son, Mrs. James N. Peale, Eleanor Getty, Mrs. Carl Minnigerode and Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, and Robert N.
