Information provided by Reba Jo Williams Lepkowski, email dtd 18 Dec 2000
Bruce enlisted in the army probably in '41 and was in the Ordinance dept, was at Ft. Lewis for training before going to Ft. Ord. His dad was in WW1 and named Bruce's middle name for his French officer.
Other info:
He and Reba Jo separated at the end of the war and he married a German woman who had been widowed. She had a young son at the time. He chose not to keep in touch with his daughter Lynda, as his new wife's parents were very strong Catholics and did not approve of divorce. They subsequently had a daughter between them. He never acknowledged to her that he had a daughter from a prior marriage, although he apparently told his stepson.
According to his mmilitary records, he enllisted 6 March 1940 and retired 30 April 1972. He entered as a 2nd Leiutenant and retired as a Colonel.
