About Caleb Crowell Nickerson
Added by E.C. Nickerson About This Ancestor-Caleb Nickerson died of dysentery, age 53 years 12 days, buried at Seaside Cemetery, Chatham. He Married Priscilla Eldredge who died of consumption, age 56. There is no gravestone for her. Caleb was called "Jr." on his marriage record. He was called a sailor in the 1850 census, and mariner on his death record. There was no probate for Caleb. A letter from Mercy (Atkins) Hammond to WEN, 5 Feb. 1906 states, "Priscilla always said her mother was half Indian and all the descendants have the dark complexion, Black eyes, coarse black hair, and tall and strait."
