About Calvin Reed Wixom
Calvin was one of the 1st triplets born in Idaho. Calvin Reed Wixom, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, at the Bear Lake Skilled Care Facility in Montpelier. He was born July 24, 1911, in Liberty, Idaho, to John Stephen and Mae Jannett Hymas Wixom. He, a brother Kenneth, and a sister, Kleo were triplets. The first set of triplets born in the state of Idaho. He met Joanna Sullivan while serving in the army in England. They were married Nov. 27, 1946, in Montpelier. He was a member of the LDS Church, the American Legion, and the DAV. He had many occupations. He ran a furniture store in Mackey, Idaho., was in charge of all painting in Lava Hot Springs Foundation, built a trailer court in Montpelier and then built the Sunset Motel and Café on 4th St. in Montpelier. They lived in Pocatello for a number of years and then moved back to Montpelier when his health started failing to be closer to family. Calvin is survived by his wife Joanna of Montpelier, his triplet sister Kleo Blackburn of Fruitland, Idaho, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Mae, Sadie, Ethel, Janet and Blanche, and seven brothers, Johney, Avery, Claude, Sim, Bill, Allen and Kenneth. Funeral services were held Jan. 20. Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery. Published in The News-Examiner in Montpelier, Bear Lake County, Idaho, on Wednesday, January 24, 1996, on page 3.
