Also known as Abraham Lewis DeMoss. Founded town of Bellevue, Tennessee. Built a log cabin on the banks of the Harpeth River in 1797 and named it "Belle Vue". Revolutionary soldier, Captain of the Militia in Salisbury, NC. 

"Abraham Louis DeMoss b. Oct. 1753 VA d. Sept. 26, 1820 Davidson County, Tennessee and is buried in the Thomas DeMoss Cemetery on the banks of Trace Creek, Bellevue, Tennessee married 1775 to Hannah Greer. 9 children.

"Hannah (Greer) married a Demoss. Her husband was probably Capt. Abraham Lewis Demoss (Oct 1753 - 16 Sept 1820), who moved from Wilkes County to Davidson County, Tennessee and who is said by the DAR PATRIOT INDEX to have had a wife named Hannah." The name "DeMoss was Americanized in the first generations from du Mas- of the noble Huegonot family of Montpieler. ""The Direct line of Abraham Louis DeMoss from Count Louis du Mas. 1. Louis du Mas fled France with his family at the age of 9, in 1683 before the Edict of Nantes, was a refugee staying with the Princes and Princess of Brandenburg, Prussia.; 2. Count Louis du Mas.; 3. Louis duMas/DeMoss pioneer of Fredricks County owner of "Frenchman's Repose", MD.; 4. James DeMoss m. Phoebe Cox."

"Abraham settled in North Carolina in 1787. He was in North Carolina, Wilkes County, Morgan District int he first census of the U.S. in 1790. Was Captain of Militia of Horse Company in Salisbury District of North Carolina and received a warrant for land which he selected in Wilkes Co, NC, Sold the land in 1803. Moved to Davidson Co., TN about 1800 and bought land on the Big Harpeth River. After his death, his wife, Hannah moved to Saline Co, Missouri and she is buried there. Many of the sons of Abraham and Hannah are also buried in Missouri."
