Captain Alexander Ewing was a Revolutionary War hero. Alexander is a son of John Ewing and a grandson of Alexander Ewing (1677-1738/9) an Immigrant to America in 1727. DAR# A038040

Early settler of N.W. Davidson Co. Served in Revolutionary War as Aid-de-Camp to Gen. Green. Wounded at Guilford. Earned nickname and 2666 acres. Built and owned first brick plantation house in area, 1/4 mile East. Later built Ewing Mansion on Buena Vista Pike. He and his wife Sarah are buried directly across in Ewing Plantation cemetery.

Captain Ewing was born in Virginia, March 10, 1752. He was first lieutenant, and afterwards, for three years, captain in the Virginia line, during the Revolutionary war. Resigning his commission, he was made aid on General Greene's staff. He was wounded at the battle of Guil- ford, and rendered unfit for further service during the war.
