About Capt Benjamin Franklin Salmon, II

Enrolled June 1, 1847 in Co H, 3rd Regiment, Mo. Mounted Volunteers (same unit as son John) at Independence, Mo. at rank of 1st Lt. He was 38. He was promoted to Capt 10/31/1847. He was wounded by Apaches on 7/23/1848 and left at San Fernandez de Taos, New Mexico because of his wounds. He died of complications of his wounds 11/19/1848.
