About Capt. James Laird
Capt. Laird, was killed when he and his wife, Ann were on a voyage at sea about six months after they were married. They were shipwrecked near a tiny island, so small it had only two trees. Ann and a few crew members that survived made their way to the island. Two pigs were brought from the ship and were carried off by crocodiles, one each night. The survivors were spotted by a passing ship and rescued on the third day.
