In 1748 12 Indian boys of Hollis School were put in his care and for 3 yrs. were in his house at Newington, Conn. He was a valuable frontier officer, remarkable for strength of body and mind.

His brother Martin Kellogg returned as did the youngest sister Rebecca from abduction by Indians at Deerfield, MA in 1704
