Captain in NZMC, file number 3/2874. Husband of Mabelle Martha Serpell (nee Summons), of 447, Victoria Rd., Marrickville, Sydney, Australia. Killed in action. Military Cross (MC): London Gazette, 17 December 1917, p13185: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in attending to the wounded at the regimental aid post under heavy fire. Although twice wounded, he went on with his work until ordered to hospital by his commanding officer.
