TIMELINE:
- 1781-1783--George Cannon was a scholar of the Peel Mathematical School. He enrolled 4 April 1781, and left 5 August 1783 at the age of 17. He left as a ship's carpenter, but became a "Guinea Captain".
- 1798-- George Cannon and John Spencer were listed as Captains of the 23% of a crew of 40 Guinea traders who deserted the IRIS. Cannon embarked on a voyage June 8, 1798 from Liverpool to Bonney, Africa as First Mate to Captain John Spencer aboard the ship IRIS. The Captain John Spencer died August 30, 1798 and George Cannon took over command.
- 1799-- March 1799 Captain Cannon departs from the North Key of Crooked Island in the West Indies aboard the IRIS (one of a fleet directed by a commodore). October 1799 a Charles Crow was impressed aboard his ship in Angola. November 1799 Captain George Cannon and John Killey deserted the ship IRIS in Angola.
- 1800-- Departs on a voyage aboard the ship IRIS July 29, 1800 from Kingston, Jamaica. He encountered a storm which caused the ship to leak badly.
- 1811-- The Captain was killed in a mutiny aboard his ship July 19, 1811.
