The Foscombe estate was offered for sale in lots in 1887, and Hedley Hunt Calvert (d.1937) purchased Foscombe mansion in 1890. Calvert had become the principal landowner in Ashleworth by 1914, and was succeeded at Foscombe by his son Hedley Murray Calvert (d.1962).
