About Carey Toney

Carey joined the American Army in the Revolution, passed through several campaigns, took an active part in the siege of Yorktown, was an eye-witness to the surrender of Lord Cornwallis in 1781, saw General Washington and Lafayette a great number of times during the siege and recollected and described the personal appearance of Lord Cornwallis, his staff, etc. He lived in good health for over one hundred years and married for76 years.

Carey Toney (Carey and Poindexter were twins), and wife Elizabeth Doran, were pioneers of Preble County farmland in Dixon Township.
