About Carl Asbury
Ernest Carl Asbury, a 23-year resident of California and Joshua Tree, died Sept. 10, 2010 at Desert Regional Medical Center after a motor vehicle accident. He was 65 years old.
The son of Earnest Asbury and Marjorie Jessup Holms, he was born July 13, 1945, in Morristown, N.J. Carl graduated from Warwick Valley High School, where he distinguished himself on the football field. Carl was an Eagle Scout and attended Emory and Henry College in Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. army in 1965 and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He was an Airborn Ranger of the 173rd Airborne, Charlie Company, 2nd battalion. Carl was awarded three Bronze Stars for heroism and two Purple Hearts among his numerous medals. He was preceded in death by both his parents. Mr. Asbury is survived by his wife of eight years, Marjorie White of Joshua Tree; son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Jessica Goldstien of Boulder, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law Zandra and Darren of Williston, Vt.; sisters Linda Dawson of Warwick, N.Y., and Sally Leonard of East Dorset, Vt.; brother Frank Asbury of Anaheim; sister-in-law Carol and her husband, Jack Askham; brother-in-law Richard and and his wife, Jane White; brother-in-law Walter and his wife, Betsy White; and two grandchildren.
