ACCIDENT NO. 21— February 14th. — Charles Stenberg, a trammer, was struck on the head by a small rock at the 4th level south of No. 2 shaft, Trimountain Mine. He died in a short time after being struck. In quest was taken before Coroner Brand.

Paul Hiikkinen testified: "I am a trammer in the 4th level, No. 2 shaft, Trimountain Mine. A party of three of us trammers were shoveling. Two of us were shoveling into the car and Charles Stenberg was shoveling dirt to us two. The rock fell down right where I was standing. Charles fell down in front of me. I took hold of him and pulled him back towards the track. I then called the miners and we carried him to the shaft. We put him in the skip and brought him to the surface. He died just as we took him to the shaft. I thought the place was safe or I would not have worked there."

Matt Mattnan testified: "I heard the testimony of Paul Hiikkinen, and do not know anything different from what he said. Did not see the rock fall on Charles. I only heard the noise."

Richard Trinithick testified: "I am a miner employed at the Trimountain. I was not present when the accident occurred. I was notified by the trammers, who just testified, at the time of the fall of ground in the 4th level of No. 2 shaft. These two trammers called to us, and of course, we ran out. We find the deceased lying on the track with the two trammers holding him. I looked at him. I had an idea he was dying from a blow on the head. I asked the trammers how it happened and they said some loose rock came down. We took him to the shaft and to the surface. We examined the ground when we went to work and thought it was safe."

Verdict: "We, the jury, find the said Charles Stenberg was accidentally killed by a fall of rock in the 4th level on No. 2 shaft in Trimountain Mine, Adams Township, on the 14th day of February, 1905, and exonerate the mining company from all blame."

Onnettomuus nro 21— 14. helmikuuta —
Charles Stenberg, vaunumies, sai iskun päähänsä pienestä kivenlohkareesta Trimountain-kaivoksen tasolla 4, etelään kuilusta nro 2. Hän kuoli hieman sen jälkeen.

Tapaturmatutkintaa johti kuolinsyyntutkija Brand.

Paul Hiikkinen todisti: "Olen vaunumies ("trammer") Trimountain-kaivoksen kuilun nro 2 tasolla 4. Meitä oli kolme vaunumiestä lapioimassa. Kaksi meistä lapioi vaunuun ja Charles Stenberg lapioi kiviainesta meille kahdelle. Kivi putosi suoraan siihen missä seisoin. Charles kaatui maahan edestäni. Otin hänestä kiinni ja vedin vaunukiskoja kohti. Kutsuin sitten kaivosmiehiä apuun ja me kannoimme hänet kuilulle. Laitoimme hänet kaivoskelkan kyytiin ja toimme maanpinnalle. Hän kuoli juuri kun saimme hänet kuilulle. Pidin sitä työkohdetta turvallisena, muutoin en olisi työskennellyt siellä."

Matt Mattnan todisti: "Kuulin Paul Hiikkisen lausunnon enkä tiedä tapauksesta mitään erilaista mitä hän jo sanoi. En nähnyt kiven putoavan hänen päälleen, Kuulin vain äänen."

Richard Trinithick todisti: "Olen kaivosmies Trimountain-kaivoksessa. Me veimme hänet kuilulle ja maanpinnalle. Tutkimme sen työkohteen, kun menimme sinne töihin ja mielestämme se oli turvallinen."

Päätös: "Me valamiehistö toteamme. että Charles Stenberg kuoli tapaturmaisesti 14. helmikuuta 1905 kiven pudotessa Adams Township:ssä Trimountain-kaivoksen kuilun nro 2 tasolla 4, ja vapautamme kaivosyhtiön kaikesta vastuusta."
