About Carl Oscar William Quick
Dorothy Marjorie Johnson, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, April 8, at Henry County Health Center.
Visitation will begin Friday, April 11, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the chapel with the rev. Steven Zittergruen officiating. Burial will be in Swedesburg cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and Mrs. Johnson's grandson's education.
She was born July 4, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of William and Edna Nelson Quick. On April 14, 1941, she married Donald K. Johnson in Swedesburg.
A graduate of Mt. Pleasant Hight School she helped her husband farm in the Mt. Union area until they purchased a farm in Crawfordsville. The couple lived on that farm until retiring and moving to Mt. Pleasant. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Dwayne Johnson and his wife Kaye of Mt. Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Marge Quick of Burlington; one grandson and one great grandson.
He husband, son Morris Johnson, brother Gene Quick, and sisters Helen Gustafson and Darlene Blitz preceded her in death.
After her school years she was live-in maid as many young women were in that time. After marriage, they farmed in the Mt. Union areas for at least 10 years. They purchased a farm near Crawfordsville, Henry County, and lived there until 1981 when Don retired from farming. He and Dorothy moved to Mount Pleasant.
Dorothy was a farm wife and homemaker. They were active members in the Swedesburg Lutheran Church. The family suffered the loss of the older son Morris in an auto accident in southern Iowa in 1969.
